Comedian Russell Brand pictured exploring his spiritual side at a Hare Krishna temple

Barefoot, with his legs crossed and eyes closed, our  pictures show the comedian searching for peaceful enlightenment with dozens of devotees

He is known for his wild partying ways, but here loudmouth Russell Brand seems to be concentrating on his more spiritual side as he meditates at a Hare Krishna temple.

Barefoot, with his legs crossed and eyes closed, our exclusive pictures show the comedian, 38, searching for peaceful enlightenment with dozens of devotees.

After an hour of meditating, he then chatted to others at the Bhaktivedanta Manor temple in Aldenham, Herts.

One member of the group said: “Russell was in good spirits. Like everyone else at the meeting he was there because he wanted to find peace of mind.

“He was saying that because he leads such a busy life it means he was grateful to be able to take time out.

“It is the third or fourth time he has been along to one of our meetings this year and it is always great to see him.

“He might be a celebrity but everybody at the temple just treats him like a normal person. Russell has a very deep spiritual side and has read many Krishna texts and talks about them all the time here.”

The temple – one of the most visited in Europe – is run by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Beatle George Harrison gave the Manor to the movement in 1973, as an offering of devotion.

Comedian Brand has regularly spoken of his Hare Krishna beliefs and befriended the prominent follower Radhanath Swami.

He said of Swami: “He’s a beautiful fellow. I’m a spiritual gent and increasingly that’s the level I want to vibrate on, were it not for my crazed lust for sex and glamour.”

Brand also tied the knot with Katy Perry, in a Hare Krishna service. Unfortunately, the 14-month marriage did not end peacefully.
