TV Benidorm writer tells complaining mum to 'Go f*** herself with a pineapple'

EXCLUSIVE TV BENIDORM WRITER'S RESPONSE TO A MUM OF TWO WHO COMPLAINED OF SWEARING ON SHOW

The writer of hit ITV series Benidorm told bosses that a mum who complained about swearing on the show should "go f*** herself with a pineapple".

Derren Litten fired off the email to senior managers when they forwarded him a letter from concerned viewer Sue Fisher.

She was angry about bad language and the sexual content in the Friday night series, starring comic Johnny Vegas and Wendy Richard, that attracts 5.5 million viewers.

Litten, also an actor who has starred in EastEnders, French and Saunders and the Green Wing, wrote: "Good point well made.

Let's dub all the remaining episodes with "flippin' 'ecks" and "blimeys". Alternatively we could go back to Benidorm and re-shoot the whole series. Failing this I would recommend Mrs Fisher go f*** herself with the fat end of a pineapple."

An ITV boss sent a copy of the email to colleagues, saying: "Yet another Benidorm complaint and yet another fine response from the writer."

When the Sunday Mirror contacted Sue, she had just received an apology from ITV saying her views had been taken seriously.

Manager Derek Savage defended the swearing, saying the show went out after the 9pm watershed and was a comedy.

But when we showed her Litten's email - leaked to us by an ITV insider - mum-of-two Sue, 56, of Caerphilly, South Wales, said: "I'm appalled. It shows what really happens when you complain. For Mr Litten to ridicule me in such an offensive and disgusting way adds insult to injury. I am very hurt."

Sue, who works in family planning and sees pregnant girls as young as 12, said the show's portrayal of teen mum Chantelle encouraged youngsters to have sex.

Her husband William, 66, said: "I could tear this man Litten's head off his shoulders." An ITV spokesman said: "This is clearly a private email. ITV responded to the viewer in an appropriate manner."

Good point well made. Let's dub all the remaining episodes with "flippin' 'ecks" and "blimeys". Alternatively we could go back to Benidorm and re-shoot the whole series. Failing this I would recommend Mrs Fisher go f*** herself with the fat end of a pineapple.
