Paedo rock star Ian Watkins is prison pals with child killer

Lostprophets pervert wanted to share a cell with vile killer Carl Mills who murdered his own baby

Paedo Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins befriended a vile child killer behind bars.

The rocker told inmates he wanted to share a cell with evil Carl Mills, who murdered three people in a house fire, including his own premature tot.

Locked up while he waited for his trial, Watkins – who last week admitted attempting to rape a baby among a string of sex offences – also boasted about his celeb lifestyle in LA.

He bragged that he took crystal meth with an A-list actress and described how he would drive around in a Ferrari picking up young fans.

His former cell-mate Leon Wilds said Watkins, 36, convinced everyone in jail he was innocent. He said: “Ian was very believable. He had this front which led everyone to think he was going to get off the charges and didn’t do these horrible things.

“I couldn’t believe it when I found out he had pleaded guilty. He is disgusting.”

Watkins’ pal Mills, 29, was on remand at the same time as the rocker, but is now doing 35 years for the murder of Kim Buckley, 46, her daughter Kayleigh, 17, and granddaughter Kimberley – who was six months old.

Mills started the fire, in Cwmbran, South Wales, as he thought another man was in the house.

Leon, who was doing time for burglary, said: “Ian told us if he could choose who to share a cell with it would be Mills. He got on well with Mills and thought he was a sound guy because he was one of the quiet ones.

“They used to sort each other out for tobacco. They were similar – they were both convincing in telling people they were innocent.

“Ian told Mills they should get together and do crystal meth when they got out. It turned out that Mills was lying too and sick just like Ian

Leon, 18, was on the same wing as Watkins at Parc Prison in Bridgend, South Wales. In a letter to him after Leon got out, Watkins moaned about jail, saying: “My trial isn’t until the end of November. Looks like I’ll be here all year. After that f*** knows.”

This week Watkins pleaded guilty to 13 sex offences including attempting to rape the 11-month-old baby of one female fan and conspiring to rape the baby of another. The Lostprophets sold 3.5 million records worldwide and the court heard he flew around the globe, abusing young groupies.

Watkins lived in Pontypridd, South Wales, but he spent a lot of time in LA. Leon said: “He loved driving around in a Ferrari. He would talk about picking up young women and going to parties. Once he came out with how he took crystal meth with this actress. He couldn’t get enough of it.” Watkins dated DJ Fearne Cotton and model Alexa Chung, but neither knew about his sick fantasies.

Leon said Watkins claimed he was set up, despite a video of him having sex with an underage US teenager being found on his computer.

He revealed: “He said it was all lies. He said he could not be attracted to babies because they have no features. He said the cops wanted him as a trophy because he was famous.

“He was getting depressed, slowly losing it by the day.” Watkins’ stepdad, church minister John Davies, 53, and mum Elaine, 60, spoke out this week.

Mr Davies said: “This is so hard. It’s the first thing a parent asks themselves – where did we go wrong? Ian was loved, cherished and nurtured. I don’t know if he will be remembered as somebody evil – like a sort of Jimmy Savile character. I hope not.”

The police are still investigating and Detective Chief Inspector Peter Doyle said: “We believe Watkins may have other victims around the world.”
