Baby Harry Born with 12 fingers and 12 toes

Meet Harry Meleady-Green the first British baby born with 12 fingers and 12 toes.

Amazed docs have dubbed it a chance in a million.

And parents Michael and Emma admitted his extra digits left them in shock.

Emma, 27, said: When he was born I gave him a cuddle and handed him to his dad. It was only then Michael spotted his extra fingers.

I said Check his toes and Michael discovered he had six on each foot.

We were shocked but not upset. He was so gorgeous just as he was.

Emma and soldier Michael, 28, must now decide if Harry's extra digits, which are fully functional, should be removed.

Mum-of-three Emma, of Abingdon, Oxfordshire, said: I'm worried he'll be bullied if we don't operate but the surgery will be an ordeal. I already have people commenting on him. One friend said, What planet did he come from? It was really hurtful. But hes a lovely, happy baby and were so proud of him.

Emma herself was born with an extra finger and toe. But they were just flaps of skin and were easily removed.

Harry's condition postaxial polydactyly would need a six-hour op to fix. Emma said: Its such a difficult decision.

Geneticist Prof Robert Hill said: Its a fascinating case a chance in a million.
