SO CRUEL

SUNDAY MIRROR NEWSPAPER

A mum wrongly jailed for adultery in Dubai now faces a heartbreaking Christmas without her children.

Tormented Marnie Pearce, 40, who has now been freed, had been promised by her ex-husband that she could be with sons Laith, eight, and Ziad, five - but he has taken them to America.

After a legal battle Marnie won the right to see the boys every Tuesday and Friday - which meant she should be with them on Christmas Day. But when she went to collect her sons five days ago, she discovered Ihab El Labban had flown with them to the States to spend the holiday with his girlfriend.

Marnie, from Bracknell, Berks, who lives with friends in Dubai, said last night: "I was physically sick when I found they had gone." Her anguish was made worse because El Labban, 43, had promised she'd see the boys over Christmas.

She said: "He agreed they could be with me Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I booked tickets to take them to see Sleeping Beauty and bought Laith a Nintendo DS, Ziad a marble maze game and they had an air-hockey table to share.

"All their presents are wrapped and under the tree and I have filled their stockings. But now they won't get to open them and I have no idea when I will ever see them again."

Marnie was jailed for three months after El Labban framed her. She faced being deported on her release, but after a Sunday Mirror campaign she was allowed to stay to fight for access to her boys.

Marnie added: "This year I lost custody of my boys forever. I didn't think it was possible to cry any more. My ex has stolen parts of our lives which we will never get back and now he has stolen our Christmas."
