The Miss England beauty contest this year is including a general knowledge quiz round to prove that beauties can have brains too.

Sixty contestants will face a ‘mastermind’ style quiz to weed out the thickies before the top brainboxes go into a quiz final to find the winner of the round.

The current Miss England Kirsty Heslewood says the quiz is partly to dispel the image of beauty queens having less than dazzling brain function and also to find a girl who will represent the pageant intelligently during their year as Miss England.

Below are a list of sample questions the girls may be asked, although this may change.

There are also other changes to the format for the pageant to be held in Torquay in June.

There will be a round where the girls can show off a specific talent they may have and an ‘eco round’ where girls are tasked with making their own outfits from recycled materials.
